How Newport Beach ADU Builders Was Born in Newport Beach

We started this company in 2016, and we remember the exact week it happened. A homeowner on Balboa Island called us out to look at a garage conversion another crew had walked away from. The framing was off by three inches on one corner. The electrical rough-in had been signed off by someone who clearly never looked at it. The homeowner had already paid for work that would need to be torn out and done again from scratch. She wasn’t angry. She was just tired. She’d been saving for years to build a rental unit above her garage, and now she was standing in a half-finished shell with a folder full of receipts and no clear path forward.

We sat at her kitchen table and walked through what it would actually take to fix it. A real number. A real timeline. No vague promises. When we finished, she said something we’ve never forgotten: “I wish someone had just told me the truth from the beginning.” That conversation in Newport Beach is why this company exists. We’d seen too many homeowners handed inflated quotes, vague schedules, and change orders that arrived after the contract was signed. We knew the ADU trade could be done differently. So we built a company around a simple promise: tell people the truth, price the work honestly, and stand behind what we build.

Our Founder’s Personal Connection to the ADU Trade

Our founder came into this work through the trades, not through business school. The first job site he ever set foot on was a framing crew in Southern California, back when the morning marine layer would burn off around ten and the smell of cut lumber hung in the air until noon. He started doing grunt work: hauling lumber, cleaning up, holding the dumb end of the tape measure. He got yelled at for marking a line wrong. He got shown how to do it right. Somewhere in those early years he realized he liked the problem-solving part. Not the hammering. The figuring. The moment when a set of plans stops being lines on paper and starts being a room someone will cook in, or a unit where a family member will live.

ADU work specifically pulled him in because it sits at the intersection of two things he cares about: old homes and new possibilities. Newport Beach is full of houses built in the 1950s and 60s, solid bones but outdated layouts. Adding an ADU to one of those properties means respecting what’s already there while building something that works for how people actually live now. He’s been working in residential construction for more than ten years, and what keeps him showing up is the same thing that hooked him on that first crew: every job is a puzzle with real stakes. A family’s budget. A homeowner’s retirement plan. A rental unit that turns a mortgage into something manageable. If he weren’t doing this, he’d probably still be working with his hands somewhere, probably still in construction, probably still thinking about how to make a building better than the plans call for. But the ADU piece is personal. He’s watched too many people get priced out of the neighborhoods they grew up in, and an ADU is one of the few ways a regular homeowner in Orange County can actually fight back against that.

Meet Our Team – The Person Behind Every Job

Our Owner & Founder grew up around construction and has spent more than a decade in residential building across Orange County. He holds the licensing and insurance required for every job we take on, and he insists on the same from every tradesperson who works under our name. What sets him apart isn’t a slogan. It’s the fact that he walks job sites himself. He looks at the foundation forms before the pour. He checks the tie-downs on the roof framing. He’s the kind of builder who notices a slightly crooked switch plate and fixes it without being asked, because he knows the homeowner will notice it every day for the next twenty years.

Outside work, he’s a father and a beach regular. You might see him getting coffee on Lido Isle on a Saturday morning or watching his kids surf off the Wedge on a small day. He coaches youth baseball in the spring. He’s not the guy who hands off your project to a rotating cast of strangers. He’s the guy who answers the phone, walks your property, and is on the other end of the line when you have a question at 6:45 on a Tuesday evening. If something goes wrong, he takes it personally. That’s not a line. That’s just how he’s wired, and it has been since the beginning.

Our Promise to Newport Beach Homeowners

Honest pricing means a written, line-item quote before we start and no surprise change orders halfway through the job. If we find something we didn’t expect behind a wall, we stop and talk to you before any additional cost is added. You’ll never get a bill for work you didn’t approve. Quality parts means we use materials that last in a coastal climate: fasteners rated for salt air, framing that stays straight through temperature swings, siding that doesn’t warp when the marine layer rolls in every summer morning. Standing behind every job means we answer the phone after the final inspection. If something isn’t right, we come back and make it right. We’d rather lose money on a callback than let a homeowner live with a problem we could have fixed.

Our Credentials

When you hire a builder to work on your property, you’re trusting them with your largest asset. Here’s what we bring to every project:

  • State-licensed – every pro working under our name is required to hold the license the state requires for their trade. No exceptions.
  • Insured & bonded – we carry the coverage that protects your property and your project, and every tradesperson on site is held to the same standard.
  • Years of local experience – we’ve been building ADUs in Orange County since 2016, and we’ve worked on properties from Newport Beach to Costa Mesa to Irvine and beyond.
  • Strong local reputation – our business has grown through word of mouth from homeowners who’ve seen our work firsthand. We don’t buy reviews. We earn referrals.

Why does this matter to a homeowner? Because the difference between a good ADU and a bad one isn’t always visible at the final walkthrough. It’s the wiring hidden behind drywall. It’s the waterproofing under the tile. It’s whether the foundation was done right on day one. Credentials are the only thing standing between you and a builder who cuts corners and disappears. We’re not that builder.

Rooted in Newport Beach

We work here. We live here. Our families go to the same schools, shop at the same farmers market on Lido, and park at the same crowded beach lots off Balboa Boulevard. We’ve built ADUs on the Balboa Peninsula, in Corona del Mar, in Westcliff, and along the back bay. When a homeowner tells us they’ve lived on their street for thirty years, we know exactly what that means. This isn’t a territory to us. It’s home. And we build in it like we’ll run into our customers at the grocery store, because we will.
